Brain gain, not brain drain

The High Coast International Students Recruitment Program

Reversing the trend that takes our most educated and highly skilled talents away from the High Coast cities, the Advanced Degree Recruitment Project deploys job fairs of highly screened and skilled  international candidates—AI, advanced robotics, nanotech engineers etc—and connectes them to local businesses trying to recruit best-in-class talent to propel their global growth.

Additionally, the project provides a social platform and onboarding to both the individuals and companies to ensure the recruitment’s success.

Non-Swedes coming to the High Coast—whether skilled or unskilled—find the job market exciting but also daunting to engage in. Who do they approach, what skills are they looking for, what’s the best way to get Swedish job experience? While Arbetsförmedling has been the traditional job resource, their capacity and mandate have been greatly stretched, especially with New Swedes who’ve never entered the Swedish job network and have never created a resume or network here.

50-75 international, advanced degree

candidates will be selected through the Mittuniversitet, Umeå universitet programme and others.

The High Coast International Works

Non-Swedes coming to the High Coast—whether skilled or unskilled—find the job market exciting but also daunting to engage in. Who do they approach, what skills are they looking for, what’s the best way to get Swedish job experience? While Arbetsförmedling has been the traditional job resource, their capacity and mandate have been greatly stretched, especially with New Swedes who’ve never entered the Swedish job network and have never created a resume or network here.

To attract, connect and retain these workers to align to the job creation goals of 2,500 by both Industrigrupp and the Örnsköldsvik Kommun, a new breed of internship and job placement programme will be initiated to prove that working together—local businesses, the hospitality sector, public stakeholders etc—can be more successful at creating employment opportunities and retaining skills in the High Coast.
